Michal races in the pilot season of the European Electric Karting League. He is the only driver in the field on a SODI chassis; everyone else runs Birel. His best weekend so far was Kandava: he won qualifying and both finals, and in the superfinal, after being spun on lap one, he climbed from second to last to second.

Away from racing, he set the fastest time on a BSR X5 at the autoslalom show in Dlhá, ahead of cars like a Tesla and a Lotus Exige.

Michal in his own words

“My name is Michal Letovanec, I’m 18 and I’ve been karting for 4 years, mostly in the SWS series. Over that time I’ve gained a lot of experience, which I now also use as a coach. I decided to move up a level and become the first driver in Slovakia to race professional BSR electric karts. I chose them not only for the lower maintenance costs and simpler running compared with Rotax karts, but also for the unforgettable driving feel and the lightning-fast acceleration. I believe the electric category has a very strong future in motorsport. My goal is to keep improving and win the European electric karting league (EKL) next season.”
